Several Nigerian pastors are imprisoned for various offenses and crimes against humanity, today, we’ll be looking at five Nigerian pastors who are currently imprisoned and the offenses they each committed.

1. Prophet Babatunde

The founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel is Prophet Alfa Babatunde on October 6, 2020, was sentenced to life in prison for the unexplained death of a girl named Gold Kolawole.

It can be recalled that Gold, a one-year-old child, went missing on November 10, 2019, during a church service after his mother, Modupe Kolawol, dropped him off at the church’s creche department.

On December 10, 2019, the boy’s parents published a petition accusing the Pastor fro being liable for the young boy’s disappearance. The prophet was later arrested.

He was convicted in court and found guilty after the court heard some compelling testimonies. He and many other members of his congregation were sentenced to life in prison by the judge.

2. Michael Olulonbi and Juliana Olulonbi

Michael Olulonbi is a Nigerian Prophet with a Birmingham foundation. He founded a Christian church in Edgbaston, Birmingham, called the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, which has Nigerian origins.

He was sentenced to 34 years in jail after being convicted of s*xual harassment. The judge overseeing his prosecution characterized it as the worst case of assault he has ever seen.

Several of his crimes were committed after he persuaded victims, five of whom were members of his congregation, to participate in’ spiritual bathing’ in order to ‘ cleanse’ them of evil spirits.

Additionally, it was discovered that his pharmacist partner, Juliana Olulonbi, assisted him in terminating the illegitimate pregnancies that resulted from the rituals.

Additionally, she was charged and convicted alongside the prophet. Juliana received an 11- year jail term for assisting her husband.

3. Timothy Omotoso

Tim Omotoso, a Nigerian pastor, is the Senior Pastor of Jesus Dominion International in Durban, South Africa. On July 14, 1958, he was conceived.

He was apprehended at the Port Elizabeth International Airport on 20 April 2017 by the South African priority crimes team, Hawks.

He is incarcerated and facing charges of s*xual abuse and child slavery in the Port Elizabeth high court. According to reports, he groomed his victims and started raping them when they were 14 years old.

4. Sam Kayode

Sam Kayode is a Nigerian pastor working in the United Kingdom. He was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2016 for defrauding the Haberdashers’ Aske’ s state school of £4 million. He was a school accountant.

The 61- year- old married four wives and spent a portion of the proceeds on an extravagant lifestyle. The accountant paid £57, 000 a year at the chain’s schools in southeast London, but drove a fleet of vehicles.

5. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo

Reverend King Chukwuemeka Ezeugo is the General Overseer of Christ Praying Assembly. He is an Anambra State native. He was convicted in 2006 for the assassination of Ann Uzoh, a church elder.

The difficulties began in 2006, at his place of residence. Several members of his congregation were accused of fornication and set on fire. Ann Uzoh, one of the victims, died in the hospital.

Reverend King was immediately arrested and charged with a crime. He was sentenced to death in January 2007, but his conviction was upheld by Nigeria’s supreme court on February 26, 2016.
