9 Kidnappers Who Collected 30 Million Naira Ransom Finally Arrested See What Police Will Do To Them.
Nine criminal suspects responsible for the kidnapping of the Honorable Mohammed Bashir Bape, Member of the Taraba State Assembly in December 2020, have been arrested.
The suspects were apprehended in their various hiding places in Taraba and in the Plateau States following an intensive search by the police team for the perpetrators and following up on the recent spike in kidnappings and armed robberies in Taraba and the north- central states of the country.
The suspects, Yusuf Abubakar, 31, is from Jalingo State LGA Taraba, Muntari Umar, 27, from Mayo Belwa LGA State of Adamawa, Ahmadu Dahiru, 28, from Lau LGA, State of Taraba, Ali Alhaji Wurungo, 25, from Lau state LGA Taraba, Buhari Nuhu, 25, from Jalingo LGA, Mohd GARBA, 30, from Mararaban Gasol, Taraba state, Yusuf Jibrillah 23, from Mararaban Gasol State of Taraba, Adamu Ahmadu alias Bulala 32 years old, from Taraba State and an Idi Suleiman.
Force spokesman Police Commissioner (PC) Frank Mba, as he paraded the suspects in Abuja on Thursday, said the police team’ s investigations revealed that the suspects were members of the ‘ a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate specializing in terrorizing innocent citizens in the north- central and northeastern states, particularly in the Plateau and Taraba states.
The investigations also established how the proceeds of crime (ransom) were shared among the suspects.
After the launch of “ Operation Puff Adder II ‘ ‘ by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, on February 15, 2021, to reinvigorate the ongoing fight against violent crime in the country and bring authors to reserve, noted Mba that members of the FIB Intelligence Response Team and the Special Tactical Force Squad attached to Operation Puff Adder II arrested 48 suspects, including 47 men and one wife.
He said they were arrested for their involvement and indictment in cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, cybercrime and financial fraud and other heinous crimes in some parts of the country.
He added that 41 prohibited firearms, including 14 AK47 rifles, 10 AK47 magazines, 58 live cartridges, 4 AK47 live ammunition, 4 POS, 2 laptops, 18 cell phones, an Internet MODEM and 9 suspects in operations. “
Police officers also arrested a 12- man cybercrime syndicate for internet fraud and other cybercrime- related offenses.
The suspects, aged 22 to 30, were arrested at a residence in the Kubwa region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, following information received by the police.
