African Leading Women Conference and Awards 2022 Unites Women All Over Africa – Checkout The Event Highlights.

Gender equality is a topic widely deliberated on, this year’s African Leading Women Conference and Awards themed “Revisiting Global Agenda 1995 for Gender Equality” united women all over Africa and the rest of the world for a common goal.

The event held on Friday 29th July at Sheraton Hotel Abuja, Nigeria had in attendance women of authority and excellence in various sectors in Africa and the world. They shared their experience, and knowledge and deliberated on the way forward on gender equality.

Gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights across all sectors of the society, including economic participation and decision-making, this is exactly what this year’s conference addressed.

The convener of the event Dr. Chris Odey stressed the importance of women in the society and the need for inclusiveness of women at all levels both in leadership and decision making.

Prior to the event, he acknowledged that most women in leadership and authority have performed well in their respective positions another reason why the need for gender equality especially in Africa cannot be overemphasized.

“Women today have made considerable marks in occupying key positions of leadership and authority in various sectors in Africa and the world, we have celebrated women as prime ministers, presidents, and heads of global organizations, and hope to see more of these exploits yet these numbers are too few considering the struggles, lack of women empowerment as well as the gender imbalance is seen in almost every professional sector.”

The event was held in two phases, the morning conference had speakers and panelists who spoke and discussed the strategic objectives and actions for the advancement of women and the achievement of gender equality in 12 critical areas of concern.

The evening session was the award and gala night.
