President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the passing of Chief of Staff, Kwara State Government, Aminu Adisa Logun, describing him as a dedicated public officer.

Logun died on account of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) complications.

Buhari, who joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), government and people of Kwara State in mourning Logun, also described late Chief of Staff as a successful industrialist and consummate public intellectual.

“He was a passionate member of our party, APC, who worked for its progress at state and national levels.

“His death comes at a time his services were greatly needed by the party and government as part of our rebuilding efforts,” the President said.

While condoling with Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, the State Executive Council, and Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the President prayed Allah to forgive the soul of the deceased, and reward his good deeds with paradise.

He also prayed that God would grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Ministry of Health has reiterated the need for Kwarans to observe COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, most especially at the burial of late Chief of Staff scheduled to take place in Ilorin today (July 8).

“In line with the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, all persons who have had contact with the late Chief of Staff in the last 14 days are to proceed to the COVID-19 Infectious Disease Centre/Hospital at Sobi for immediate collection of their samples for test. Such persons will thereafter proceed to self-isolate until the result of their test is communicated to them.

“After due consultations, the family and the government of Kwara State hereby announce that a dignifying COVID-19 compliant janazah would be held in honour of the late Chief of Staff on Wednesday (today) July 8th at his GRA home in Ilorin, the state capital.

“His janazah shall be supervised by the burial team of the COVID-19 Technical committee in accordance with extant protocols for Muslims.

“The janazah prayer shall be led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin. Only selected family members, a few clerics appointed by His Eminence the Emir of Ilorin, and a few government officials are to attend,” the ministry said.

While empathising with the governor, the family of Chief of Staff, and all Kwarans, the ministry advised that friends, families and associates should please mourn and pray for him from their respective abodes.

“We emphasise that members of the public should kindly respect the privacy of the family and all safety rules at this time and always,” the ministry added.
