Preliminary reports from sources familiar with the situation revealed that ASC Tukur had been in the company of three women, who have since been identified.

Sources indicate that two of the women, Khadija Ali, 34, from Dutsin Amare Quarters in Katsina, and Aisha Lawal, 30, from Ingawa Local Government Area, had spent the night in the hotel room with the deceased officer. A third woman, Hafsat Yusuf, 22, from Brigade Quarters in Kano, reportedly joined them later and also lodged at the same hotel.

A critical detail adding to the mystery was the alleged discovery of empty sachets of a suspected substance in the waste basket of the room. This finding has become a point for investigators working to piece together the events that led to Tukur’s death.
Following the discovery, the officer’s body was transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Katsina. A medical doctor on duty officially confirmed his death. The body has been placed in the mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the precise cause of death.

Authorities have confirmed that the Nigeria Customs Service has been officially notified of the development. The service is now cooperating with law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues. The three women present at the hotel are likely to be key persons of interest as the probe seeks to establish a clear timeline and cause of the incident.
For now, the community and the officer’s colleagues are left waiting for answers. The exact sequence of events and the definitive cause of ASC Lawal Tukur’s death remain unknown. Further updates are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
