Deputy Police Commissioner Gbolahan Oyedemi Reportedly Takes His Own Life in Oyo State.
Reports have emerged stating that Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gbolahan Oyedemi, serving with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department at Alagbon, Lagos State, tragically committed suicide in his private residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Oyedemi, previously the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala during his 11-month tenure as defacto governor in 2006, was found deceased in his home, according to sources close to the family in Ibadan, the state capital.
A source close to the family revealed that Oyedemi, who typically visited his hometown during Easter celebrations, had instructed his aides to spend the holiday with their respective families. His decision to be alone during this time has left many questioning the circumstances surrounding his tragic demise.
Efforts to obtain a response from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful, as his mobile number was unreachable. However, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, confirmed Oyedemi’s passing, although details regarding the incident remain unclear pending an official investigation.
Funmilayo emphasized the need for an investigation before determining the cause of death, highlighting that there is no official statement from the Inspector General of Police at this time. The lack of clarity underscores the complexity of the situation, leaving many awaiting further updates and official statements regarding this tragic event.
