A horrific domestic violence incident in Port Harcourt has left a 32-year-old man dead after his pregnant girlfriend allegedly set their home on fire following a heated argument.
The tragic event occurred on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at No. 11B Okoro Street in Choba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
According to Rivers State Police reports, Cynthia Chukwundah, who claimed to be a 300-level student at the University of Port Harcourt, engaged in a violent altercation with her boyfriend, Saint Sunny Amadi. Neighbors revealed that the dispute stemmed from Cynthia’s pregnancy, which Amadi reportedly questioned.

Eyewitnesses recounted a chilling sequence of events: after a prolonged argument, Cynthia temporarily left the scene, only to return with petrol. Taking advantage of Amadi falling asleep, she allegedly doused him and their apartment in fuel before igniting the blaze. The fire quickly engulfed the residence, leaving both victims with severe burns.

Amadi was rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) but tragically succumbed to third-degree burns. Cynthia, who also sustained injuries, was arrested by police and remains hospitalized under supervision.
