E-hailing driver killed in Pretoria: Police make arrest in Isaac Satlat murder case.
Pretoria – Police in Gauteng have confirmed the arrest of a female suspect in connection with the murder of a Nigerian e-hailing driver in Pretoria West last week. The development comes after days of investigation into a crime that has drawn widespread attention.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Isaac Satlat, a Nigerian student who was also working as a driver for the Bolt e-hailing service. His death has sparked reactions from community members and officials in both South Africa and Nigeria.
According to details released by the police, the incident happened on the evening of Wednesday, February 11. It is believed that Satlat was assaulted by passengers he had just picked up. Investigators say the suspects, reported to be a man and a woman, allegedly hijacked his vehicle during the ride. The victim’s body and his car were later found that same day in Atteridgeville.

Authorities have confirmed that the female suspect is now in custody. While the investigation continues, police have stated that they are actively working to locate and arrest the second suspect.
The case has drawn additional attention because of dashcam footage from inside the vehicle that began circulating on social media. The video, which shows the moment of the attack, has been shared widely, adding to public anger and grief.
Police have spoken out against the sharing of this footage. They have described the video as very disturbing and have asked the public not to share or post it online out of respect for the victim and his family. They are urging people to rather let the police do their work and avoid spreading information that has not been confirmed.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, has assigned a senior detective to take charge of the case. The goal is to make sure all details are looked into and that everyone involved in the crime is brought before the court.

The arrest of the female suspect is seen as a first step, but community leaders and members of the public are waiting to see the suspect in court. Many are also calling for the second suspect to be caught soon. The case has once again raised concerns about the safety of e-hailing drivers, who often work late hours and face risks from passengers.

As the investigation moves forward, police have asked anyone with information that could help them find the remaining suspect to come forward and contact their local station. The suspect who was arrested is expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the murder and hijacking.
