The Israeli military has confirmed that Abdallah Aljamal, a member of Hamas, was holding three Israeli hostages in his home in Nuseirat, Gaza. The hostages were Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv. They were rescued by Israeli special forces in a dangerous operation.

The rescue highlighted how Hamas uses civilian areas to hide and protect their activities. During the raid, it was reported that Israeli soldiers might have killed some of Aljamal’s family members, including Abdallah and his father.

Abdallah Aljamal was known for his work with the Hamas labor ministry and for writing articles for various news outlets. Despite rumors, Al Jazeera denied that he was their correspondent while holding the hostages.

The operation also resulted in the death of an Israeli officer, Ch. Insp. Arnon Zmora, who was shot by Hamas during the raid. His death is part of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
