Just In: NLC Says No to the New Pump Price of Petrol Set At N570 by NNPCL.
The Nigeria Labour Congress has rejected the new fuel pump price set by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
The oil company reportedly told its stations across the country to sell petrol for N480 to N570 a litre.
According to NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer Garba Deen Muhammad, the price change reflects ” market realities. “
NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, who briefed journalists at Labour House, Abuja, on May 31st in response to the news, said the congress would not allow that.
Ajaero said that the government should not attempt to set prices.
According to The Nation, the NLC said the announcement of the new pump price regime was counterproductive to the social discussion.
The NLC president Joe Ajaero felt sorry for incoming president Bola Tinubu due to the large number of labour issues that Tinubu will take over on his first day in office on Monday.
Ajaero claimed that the Buhari administration made an effort to preserve industrial harmony, but that this effort was insufficient to resolve the numerous industrial issues it was leaving behind.
The president of the NLC stated that an agreement had been reached with the doctors but that it had not been put into action, and that the problems with ASUU had not been handled.
According to another source, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing well in terms of the Nigerian stock market within the first twenty-four hours of his inauguration.
As a result of investor optimism toward Tinubi’s administration, the Nigerian stock market had a positive start this week.
During his inauguration speech, Tinubu addressed the significance of including gasoline subsidies in the budget for 2023 and pledge to strive towards a uniform currency rate to support the economy of the country.
