Kaduna Boy Reveals Family Eats Grass to Survive Nigeria’s Economic Crisis (Video).

A sad video has appeared online, showing a teenage boy from Kaduna State, Nigeria, who is living a very hard life. The boy, from the Barnawa community, is forced to gather grass meant for animals to feed his family because they are extremely poor.

The boy, who looks to be between 12 and 16 years old, is seen carrying a sack of grass from a farm. He explains, in the Hausa language, that his family has to eat grass because they can’t afford regular food. “We prepare the grass with Maggi (seasoning cube) and groundnut cake (called Kulikuli). It can be eaten alone or with these ingredients,” he says.

The boy shared that his family used to buy staple foods like spaghetti or rice, but now they can’t afford them. Instead, they rely on grass as a substitute for food.

In a heartfelt plea, he asked the government to help. “We need palliative measures to help us and others survive Nigeria’s harsh economy,” he said. His words show how badly poverty is affecting his family and the urgent need for support.
