On Thursday, October 20, 2022, Nigerian celebrities, Folarin Falana aka Falz, and Debo Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni, led a peaceful walk at the Lekki tollgate.
The solidarity walk was held to remember the lives lost during the infamous Lekki tollgate shooting that occurred at the height of the #ENDSARS protests.
#ENDSARS Protests How It Started
Recall that for over two weeks in October 2020, Nigerian youths took to the streets to demand the disbanding of the treacherous police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
The renewed call began on Saturday, October 3, 2020, following unconfirmed reports that men of SARS shot a boy in Ughelli town of Delta States and made away with his SUV.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Switch who was present at the toll-gate alongside the peaceful protesters took to her Instagram Live where she revealed that men of the Nigerian Army had opened fire on them.
This came hours after Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had ordered an indefinite 24-hour curfew, citing increased violence in the state.
In a shocking Instagram Live footage with over 150,000 viewers watching, DJ Switch was seen attempting to remove a live bullet lodged in the leg of a protester turned victim of the massacre.
Following several denials by the government and army that no casualties were recorded that night, a judicial panel set up by the Lagos State government released a report revealing that at least 40 citizens lost their lives that night.
Yesterday marked the second anniversary of the ill-fated shooting.
Present at the solidarity was Falz, Mr Macaroni, Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Feyikemi Abudu, and other Nigerian youths.
