The young man who put himself up for sale in a viral photo that went around over the weekend has run into trouble with the Islamic law enforcement agency in the Kano state, Hisbah.

According to the information, it was gathered that the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested the young man who is 26- year- old in the state after they got hold of the viral picture which they term as Un- Islamic.

The man’s name is given as Aliyu Na Idris. He put himself up for sale for N20 million, an action which has now made the Kano Hisbah arrest and detain him. He is said to be a tailor who went viral on social media last weekend after he was found roaming the streets of Kano, with a placard around his neck that reads ” This man is for sale for N20 million”

The man has reportedly been on the street for more than 5 days before looking for whom to buy him. He said he was in Kaduna for some days but left Kaduna city because he could not find a buyer. He later said he moved to Kano where he has gotten so many offers in millions but none has reached his 20 million naira target. But everything is over now since he has been arrested.

In confirming his arrest on Wednesday, October 27, the Commander- General of the Hisbah board, Sheik Harun Ibn- Sina, said that the young man was arrested because it is forbidden in Islam for one to put himself up for sale or even sell himself.

” Yes we arrested him yesterday (Tuesday) night and he spent the night with us but I haven’t interrogated him, ” he told BBC News Pidgin, adding he would speak with Mr. Idris later.
