Bobby Lashley has officially returned to the WWE, and fans are waiting for the expected feud between he and Brock Lesnar to commence – they’ll have to keep waiting.
Lesnar currently reigns as the WWE Universal Champion and pulled off a shocking retainment against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. It was expected that Reigns would topple Lesnar to become the new face of the company.
The Beast was then expected to enter a feud with Bobby Lashley. Lashley made his re-debut on Monday Night RAW the night after WrestleMania by attacking Elias.
A feud between Lesnar and Lashley would be a very interesting dynamic. Fans of combat sports initially wanted to see the two behemoths clash inside the cage in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), as they have very similar styles.
Unfortunately, Lesnar fought for the UFC while Lashley was competing in their rival promotion Bellator MMA. Fans have also expressed interest in a feud between Lesnar and Lashley in wrestling.
Again, both men found themselves signed to different promotions, as Lesnar resided in WWE while Lashley was a member of IMPACT Wrestling’s roster.
Now both men are finally in the WWE and can make the clash of these two titans possible – but a recent report suggests that it’s not going to happen.
Contrary to original reports from several different outlets, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the WWE currently has no plans to book a feud between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.
Meltzer speculated that if Lesnar is indeed leaving WWE soon then the company only has two losses they can get out of him. The first would ideally go to Roman Reigns while the other would be used to make another top Superstar.
If Lesnar was to put someone over before he left the company probably doesn’t want it to be a 40-year-old such as Lashley who will give them a limited benefit.
What are your thoughts on the WWE no longer considering a feud between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley? Do you think that the WWE should make this feud happen regardless of their long term plans? Or are they making the right call in using what they have left of Lesnar conservatively? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
