Thief Caught Inside FCMB Bank Ceiling in Lagos While Attempting to Hack Systems
A daring thief was caught hiding inside the ceiling of an FCMB bank branch in Lagos’s Secretariat area, where he attempted to hack into the bank’s systems after closing hours.
Reports indicate that the suspect entered the bank posing as a customer before sneaking into the restroom and climbing into the ceiling. He remained hidden until all staff had left for the day. Once the bank was empty, he crawled out and attempted to compromise the bank’s computer systems.

A Facebook user who shared a video of the incident narrated:
“A customer entered FCMB bank in Secretariat yesterday, went straight to the toilet and locked himself there, then climbed inside the ceiling. When he noticed that all the staff had gone, he came down and tried to hack all the systems. He also locked himself inside.”

The next morning, bank employees arrived to find the door locked from the inside. After forcing their way in, they discovered the suspect still hiding in the ceiling. Upon turning on their computers, they noticed unusual activity, with systems prompting restarts.
“If you are banking with FCMB, check your account balance ooh,” the Facebook user warned.
The video circulating online shows the suspect being severely beaten by bank security personnel. At the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether he has been handed over to the police.
