One of the major changes involves dependants and switching rules for students. Starting January 1, 2024, students will no longer be able to bring dependants with them unless they are enrolled in a postgraduate research program.

This change aims to ensure that students complete their academic commitments before working in the UK. However, for PhD students, the ability to switch will be possible after 24 months of study, provided they maintain a good compliance history with their university.
