Update: Family of Slain Female Soldier in Imo Speaks, Opens Up On More Details About Her Murder.
In the early hours of today, BBC News Pidgin reported that a family member of the deceased female soldier, Private Gloria Matthew, has finally spoken up about the ugly incident.
According to the family member, the deceased female soldier was traveling to nkwerre local government area of Imo state for her traditional marriage rites. The family member said, “the incident happened around three in the afternoon when she was traveling to nkwerre from Lagos State.”
The family member added that they are not sure about the exact day she was killed but they first saw her dead body on her WhatsApp status. The family member said, “the killers directed us to her WhatsApp status after we kept calling her phone.”

The female soldier’s family member revealed that the killers also killed the relatives of the fiance. He said, “the leader of the armed men ordered that linus’ relatives should be shot. They were shot right before the ten-year-old daughter of Gloria, the female soldier.”

When asked why the couple were in Lagos, the family member said, “they went to pick Gloria’s mother, who lives in there, so that she can witness the traditional marriage rites in Imo state.”
