According to the Nation, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr’s family claimed that he died as a result of injuries he sustained while being beaten by fellow students who were pressuring him to join a cult.

The school, on the other hand, claimed that he was hurt while playing football.
An official statement issued by Mr. Ganiu Lawal, Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, reads as follows: ” A student of Dowen College, Lekki, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr died last year, and the Lagos State Government has ordered the school to be closed indefinitely pending the outcome of an investigation into his death”.
A meeting with the School Management and Staff was held after which the closure was announced by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo.
The Commissioner appealed for calm, stating that no effort will be spared in determining the cause of the tragedy.

When The Nation got the now-viral footage, he was seen excruciatingly in pain with bloodstains on his teeth.
In a social media rant, Junior’s nephew, Perry Oromoni @Perrisonoromoni, claimed that Sylvester Oromoni Jnr was murdered because he refused to be part of a ” cult group” dominated by older lads at his high school.
Dowen College, on the other hand, responded by denying that he had been tortured to death because he refused to join a cult group.
In it, it was revealed that on November 21, one of the school’s hostel administrators notified the administration that Junior had been hurt while participating in a football game with his classmates.
After receiving first aid from a resident nurse and returning to his hostel after expressing relief, the school stated that Junior began complaining of hip pain the following day and was once again seen by the school’s resident doctor in the sickbay. Junior was discharged the following day.
In a subsequent phone call, the school started, the doctor informed the student’s mother of the issue and also requested that she pick him up for further medical attention.
According to the school, after an initial delay, the student’s mother eventually dispatched a guardian to pick him up and take him to the hospital for an x- ray, which was later completed.
” The preliminary inquiry revealed that there was no fighting, bullying, or any other sort of attack on the youngster, ” the report stated.
His sister, who is also a student, as well as other students, prefects, house parents, medical professionals, and members of the management team, were not informed of his actions.
The school has two regular nurses as well as a competent medical doctor on staff who are available to respond quickly to students’ medical needs.
Following initial treatment by the school’s medical personnel, the resident doctor followed the established procedure by inviting his mother to accompany him home for additional care, according to the school’s principal, Mrs. Adebisi Layiwola, who announced in a statement.
HURIWA Alleged That Sylvester Oromoni Jnr Was Killed For Refusing To Join Cult

Sylvester Oromoni Junior died after being beaten to death by his classmates, according to the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA).
