The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government Wednesday told the final year secondary school students in Nigeria that they won’t participate in the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) exercise.

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this to State House Correspondents after this week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The minister said he would prefer Nigerian students to lose an academic year than to expose them to dangers as the global novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread in the country.
Apart from the final year secondary school students in Nigeria not participating in the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations, the minister added that there’s no date yet for school resumption.

Adamu declared that schools may not resume any time soon, saying the safety of the students is more paramount to the Buhari administration amidst the rising cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
