2026 Governors Scorecard Awards: Citizen Voting Period Now Open

2026 Governors Scorecard Awards: Citizen Voting Period Now Open.

Starting this week, everyday Nigerians have a direct opportunity to grade the work of their state leaders. The organisers of the Nigeria Governors Scorecard Awards 2026 have officially opened the platform for public voting, calling on citizens from all states to take part in judging their governors’ records.

The unique awards programme shifts the focus from political rhetoric to tangible results. It asks citizens to look at the actual performance, impact, and delivery of services in their states throughout 2025. The idea is to create a clear, public-driven check on governance, using the collective voice of the people as the measure.

“This is a platform for accountability, plain and simple,” a representative from the organising committee said. “It’s not about political parties or promises. It’s about what people have experienced and seen in their communities over the past year. We are asking every voter to consider one straightforward question: has your governor earned this recognition?”

Public voting began on Monday, January 19, 2026, and will run for several weeks, closing on Sunday, March 8, 2026. During this period, any Nigerian can cast a vote to endorse a governor they believe has performed well.

The organisers hope this exercise will do more than just honour good leaders. They believe it can push all state executives to do better, fostering a sense of positive competition to improve lives, and reinforcing the core democratic principle that leaders are answerable to the public.

How the Voting Works

Citizens who wish to participate can cast their votes online. The process has been designed to be accessible to the general public.

The voting portal is hosted at: https://addaconsults.com/gov/candidates
Each vote is priced at ₦200, and individuals are permitted to cast multiple votes if they choose.

The Awards Night

Following the public voting period, the results will lead to a major national event. The main awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026.

The event will be held at the prestigious Congress Hall within the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, starting at 7:00 PM. Attendance to the grand ceremony is by invitation only, and it is expected to draw state governors, senior government officials, business leaders, members of the diplomatic community, activists, and journalists. The evening will be dedicated to celebrating examples of effective leadership from across the country.

The Nigeria Governors Scorecard Awards 2026 is an initiative driven by The International Goodwill Ambassador Club, working together with ADDA Consulting Limited and The People.

For Nigerians who believe that concrete achievements should matter more than political noise, this is a chance to make their opinion count. As the organisers put it: Let performance speak. Let accountability thrive. Let your vote count.
