Boxer Anthony Joshua Injured, Two Dead in Nigeria Road Crash (Video).
British-Nigerian heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The crash resulted in the deaths of two people traveling with him, while Joshua himself received what have been described as minor injuries.
The accident took place in the Makun area of Ogun State. According to local reports, the Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. The exact cause of the collision is not yet clear, and authorities say they are looking into what happened.

The vehicle, bearing the license plate KRD 850 HN, was badly damaged in the front. Images from the scene show the car’s bonnet crushed and the windscreen shattered. It is believed the two individuals who died were seated in the front of the vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as close associates of the boxer, with one confirmed to be a personal trainer. Their names have not been officially released, pending notification of their families.

Joshua was helped from the scene and initially taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Later reports suggest he may have been moved out of the country for further check-ups, though this has not been officially confirmed by his management team.
News of the accident, which occurred on December 29, 2025, has led to an outpouring of concern from fans across Nigeria and around the world. Many have taken to social media to send their condolences for the lives lost and their well-wishes for Joshua’s recovery.

The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is a major and often very busy route in southwestern Nigeria, and accidents are not uncommon. Police in Ogun State are expected to provide a fuller statement on the incident as their investigation continues.
Anthony Joshua is one of the most recognizable figures in world boxing and maintains a strong connection to Nigeria, where he was born before moving to the United Kingdom as a child.
