The quiet of Pindiga town in Gombe State was shattered in the early hours of Saturday, December 27th, by a violent attack that has left the community in mourning and raised serious security concerns.

Suspected bandits stormed a private home, killing two people and abducting four others. The victims have been identified as Prince Yusuf Derdoski, a local social media influencer popularly known as ‘Daddy,’ and his sister, Faiza, who was seven months pregnant.

Initial reports from the area suggest a possible motive behind the brutal attack on Prince Yusuf. It is alleged that he had been consistently posting pictures and content online about a suspected bandit who had been banished from the community. The unconfirmed report states that the suspect returned with armed men, targeting the young man in an act of anger and retaliation for exposing his activities.

The assailants did not stop there. After killing Prince Yusuf and his sister, they abducted four other members of the family, whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

The news prompted a swift and strong response from Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. In a statement released by his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Governor condemned the murders and abductions in the strongest possible terms.

“This dastardly act is a direct assault on our collective conscience and a painful test of our resolve to protect lives and property,” the Governor’s statement read. He assured the public that the crime would not go unpunished.
