Sanwo Olu Explains Why He Renounced His Excellency Tittle
Sanwo-Olu Babajide the Executive Governor of Lagos State on Wednesday renounced the prefix “His Excellency,” saying the title should no longer be attached to his name officially.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement, said: “Good evening Lagos. Your Excellency is a nice title that has been used to signify authority, position in government, authoritarian disposition, executive arrogance, and a demi-god mystique. Today, I wish to drop the title and to embrace a more representative one; Mr. Governor.”
According to him, “In the last five months that I have been privileged to exercise the mandate freely given to me by the great and hardworking people of Lagos State, it has come to my consciousness to review certain features of citizen-government relations.

Operation Positive Identification, Army Reacts On Bricks Publication
The Nigerian Army have reacted on a publication by Bricks stating that the NA will operation positive identification exercise in a statement signed by acting director Army Public Relations.
“ Following the widespread apprehension on the purported Nigerian Army (NA) Operation Positive Identification (OPI) from 1 November to 23 December 2019, as mischievously peddled on the social media by a hitherto unknown and fictitious organisation the so called Bricks company, which alleges that the NA will conduct the operation and went ahead to state how the operation will be conducted by the Army.

Kaduna Commence Payment of Salaries in Accordance with National Minimum Wage
The 23 local government councils in Kaduna State have paid salaries for September and October 2019 in accordance with the new national minimum wage.
The Ministry of Local Government has also confirmed that the salary arrears the councils owe 8,500 of the 39,000 primary school teachers would be paid over the next one week.

Military Donates Educational Materials & Teachers to Bayelsa Public Schools
Nigerian Army Wednesday donated some educational and sports materials like books, desks, mathematical sets among other items to various schools in Bayelsa State ahead of the commencement of Operation Crocodile Smile 4.
The military authorities have also deployed several teachers to selected schools in Bayelsa State in preparation for Operation Crocodile Smile 4, an annual exercise geared towards ridding key flashpoints of crimes in the Niger Delta region.

Ambode vs Assembly: Court Orders Lagos House to Halt Probe
A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja Wednesday ordered the state House of Assembly to halt probe of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode pending the determination of the case before it.
As earlier reported, Ambode had dragged the Assembly leadership to court over the probe of his administration’s procurement of 820 buses worth N7 billion for public transport.

Atiku Loses at Supreme Court as Buhari’s Victory is Reaffirmed
The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeals filed by the by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll.
The seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed, said the panel agreed that there’s no merit in the appeal.

NNPC, Russian Oil Company, Lukeoil, Sign MoU for Upstream Operations and Revamping of Nigeria’s Refineries
Nigeria and Russia Thursday in Sochi, Russia signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which would enable both countries’ oil giants, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Russia’s Lukeoil to elevate commercial relationship to a government-to-government backed partnership.
With signing of the MoU, NNPC and Lukeoil would work together in upstream operations and revamp Nigeria’s refineries.

EFCC Arrest Dubai-Based Bureau de Change operator, Ismaila Mustapha A.K.A Mompha
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Office, has arrested a renowned social media celebrity and Nigerian Dubai-based Bureau de Change operator, Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha for an alleged involvement in internet related fraud and money laundering.
The suspect was arrested on October 18 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on his way to Dubai, following series of intelligence reports received by the commission.

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has warned that, henceforth, the Federal Government might be forced to re-allocate projects elsewhere if any state government or communities create unnecessary impediments in the allocation of land or access to such lands for federal projects.
“The idea of chasing away contractors on site or making undue demands from them by local communities or the deliberate actions of state governments to frustrate the allocation of lands for federal projects is an antithesis of the people’s welfare,” the President said.

CBN Rejects MTN’s Planned Charges for USSD Transactions
Minister of Communications Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Sunday directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure the immediate suspension of the plans by MTN to charge their subscribers for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data access to banking services from October 21.
This was coming as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has also expressed opposition to MTN’s plans.

Buhari Leaves Abuja for Sochi, to Participate in Russia-Africa Summit
President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Abuja to attend a three-day Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Russia from October 23 to 25, with focus on exploring and expanding opportunities in security, trade and investment, science and technology, and gas production.
