The incident involves Dr. Abu (surname withheld), a medical doctor based in Auchi. Weeks ago, Dr. Abu and his younger brother were abducted by armed men. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of 100 million naira. Tragically, during the ordeal, Dr. Abu’s brother was killed after an attempt to escape. The doctor’s family negotiated and eventually paid 60 million naira to secure his release.

The case took an unexpected turn recently when two men brought a sick child to the Auchi General Hospital for treatment. By chance, Dr. Abu, who was both on duty and still receiving follow-up care at the same facility from his ordeal, was present.
Upon seeing the men, Dr. Abu immediately recognized them as the individuals who had held him captive. He kept his composure and quietly alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Auchi.
