Derico Nwamama: A Notorious Criminal That South-East Nigeria Will Ever Forget.
It was just a few years after Nigeria moved to become a democratic country and there was a rumor that the world was coming to an end.
End-time prophets were busy going around milking and telling anyone who cared to listen that the world was going to end.
Then came the story of a young man whose very name sends shivers down the spines of everyone, both young and old in the Eastern region of the country.
His name was Okwudili Ndiwe Popularly reffed to as Derico Nwamama.

He was 22 years old the King of the Underworld in the Eastern parts of the country and was also the replacement of people like Lawrence Anini and Ishola Oyenusi.
Like the others, Derico Nwamama, started out as a Street Urchin in Onitsha the heart of Anambar state, and then he went from picking pocket to becoming a dreaded Criminal.
His gang was known to be that of blood and loss in the eyes of the people.

For many, they hardly slept at night, and if they must, it was always with one eye open. This is because Derico could show up at any time, it could be night or day.
He was the personification of terror.
Most people said he was invisible and could not be arrested by the Nigerian police.

It was said that he killed more than 100 people and about 25 police officers whose lives he mercilessly wasted.
He was a master when it comes to robbing buses and does not think twice before going about his unlawful act.
He was said to have placed a lot of faith and confidence in the charms he had gotten from some witch doctors, that he sees himself invincible.
Anambra people were said to have cried to the then Governor of the state in the person of Mbadinuju.
The Governor in turn invited the Bakassi boys.
And that was how Okwudili Ndiwe Popularly reffed to as Derico Nwamama was capture on his way from Delta to Anambra.
During his confession, he said that it was after he had killed his best friend Chiejina, who was then the kingpin, that he felt he was now a strong man.
He went on to say that he has strong men from the National Assembly in Abuja who always protect him.
He also confessed that he had two other powerful protectors, one being a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly and the other a local government council chairman.

After his confession, the Bakassi boys executed him.
It was like a sacrifice to the gods had just taken place.
