EXPOSED! Why American Govt. Killed Ernest Johnson By Lethal Injection Despite Pope Begging For Mercy On His Behalf.

Finally, despite all the protests and begging from thousands of people and even Pope Francis to have mercy on Ernest Lee Johnson, the state still went ahead to kill him. The court passed a death sentence on him and the governor of his state signed his death sentenced.

The 61- year- old Johnson reportedly goes home in a dramatic style after he was killed by the state at about 6. 11 pm local time on Tuesday, October 5th after being given a lethal injection in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He however left an emotional last statement before he was killed.

Recall that Johnson was convicted of robbery and premeditated murder of three convenience store workers namely 46- year- old Mary Bratcher, Fred Jones (58), and Mabel Scruggs, 57. The incident happened in 1994 at a corner shop in Missouri State.

Thousands of petitions were signed saying Johnson needs help not the death sentence and even Pope Francis also wrote a letter to the state governor Palmer on his behalf begging to change the death sentence. All this did not dissuade the court or the governor who signed his death sentence, and he was eventually killed last night.

His Crime

On February 12, 1994, at about 5 pm, Johnson visited the Casey’ s General Store at the corner of Ballenger Lane and Rice Road. According to the court documents, h had visited the place twice earlier that day before. But by the third time in the evening, he came with a weapon to rob the store.

Where the incident happened

Johnson told one of his cocaine dealers that he was going to rob the store and he eventually robbed the store by using shooting guns, knives, and hammers to bludgeoned the three victims whom he killed in the process. The victims were 46- year- old Mary Bratcher, Fred Jones (58), and Mabel Scruggs, 57. The incident happened in 1994 at a corner shop in Missouri State. The victims were said to be convenient workers in the store.

Police arrived at the scene the next morning when a family member of Jones called them to inform them that Johson had just killed some people. Johnson reportedly came home in blood-soaked clothes. He even told his family members what he just did.

Johnson took the police to where they discovered three bodies of the victims hidden within the store. It was revealed that Johnson had told some other workers who witnessed the killing and robbery not to tell anyone and even hide the evidence linking him to the crime.

His Days In Court

When Johnson was first arraigned in court in 1995, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to death. His team of lawyers appeals the judgment saying it was too harsh and needs review. They tendered some evidence saying Johnson was mentally unstable at the time of the crime.

According to his lawyer, Johnson had a medical condition that reduces his IQ. The doctors and other documents tendered in court suggested that Johnson had the brain of a child. This means he had a deficiency in his IQ and the laws do not support the killing of anyone who has an intellectual deficiency.

His lawyer still maintained that his client, Johnson, did not deserve to die because he was not fit.

” IQ tests and other exams have shown that Johnson has the intellectual capacity of a child. He also was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and in 2008, he lost about 20% of his brain tissue to the removal of a benign tumor, ” his lawyer said in his defense.

However, the court maintained its stand that Johnson must die by lethal injection.

Jeremy Weis, Johnson’ s lawyer, said he was ” very disappointed” by the decision of the court despite all their evidence to prove that he was not mentally okay as at the time of the crime.

” We believe we made a compelling case to him(the judge) that it was the right moral decision and I guess he disagreed, ” Weis said.

Pope Begging On His Behalf

Pope Francis was told about Johnson who is on death row and gave a supporting voice to join those clamoring that Johnsons should not be killed. The excuse or reason given is simple and clear, he is not mentally okay.

Pope Francis wrote to the Supreme Court judges begging for mercy and clemency on behalf of Johnson. In a letter that was written last week to Parson (the governor of the state), by a representative of Pope Francis, the latter stated that the Pope ” wishes to place before you the simple fact of Mr. Johnson’ s humanity and the sacredness of all human life. “

About two federal lawmakers also contacted the governor over the same issue. Also, thousands of petitions were signed to dissuade the Supreme Court from giving the ultimate verdict but the court stood its ground and the governor signed the death sentence that eventually killed Johnson.

His Emotional Final Statement Before He Was Killed

Meanwhile, in the hours leading up to his death, the convict, Johnson, penned a short letter in which he told his family he loved them and told them ” I know where I’ m going” .

He also said he is ” going to heaven” because he had asked God to forgive him for what he did years ago. He is now a born- again Christian. The short statement released also includes where he thanked the lawyer, who he said made him ” feel love as if I was family to them” .

His final statement reads: ” I am sorry and have remorse for what I do. I want to say that I love my family and friends, I am thankful for all that my lawyer has done for me.

” They made me feel love as if I was family to them, I love them all, for all the people that have prayed for me I thank them from the bottom of mine. I love the Lord with all my heart and soul.

” If I am executed I know where I am going to heaven. Because I ask him to forgive me God everyone. With respect Ernest L Johnson (sic). “
