Full Story of How Ojukwu’s Wife Bianca Was Assaulted by Ebelechukwu Obiano and Its Implications.
On Thursday, Nigerians were treated to the embarrassing moment wife of former Anambra Governor, Ebelechukwu Obiano, publicly slapped Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Mrs. Obiano had confronted Ojukwu’s wife at the inauguration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra Governor, leading to physical combat which was captured on tape and widely shared on social media.

Soludo was sworn in at the government house in Anambra. Dignitaries, including Obiano, were already seated when the altercation played out.
Apex Igbo Group, Ohanaeze, Reacts To The Clash
Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, reacted to the incident in a statement by its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike.
The group warned the Obiano family to apologize to the entire Ndigbo without delay.
While describing Mrs. Obiano’s action as a big insult on the entire Igbo race, the OYC said it would not sit and watch anyone denigrate Ojukwu’s family.

He said, “we were shock-stricken to watch the trending video of an unprovoked attack on the wife of Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu by Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.
“To say the least, this is the height of insult and embarrassment on the entire Igbo race, bearing in mind what the Ojukwu family represents for the entire Igboland.
“Consequently, we are charging the Obiano family to immediately offer an unreserved apology to the Igbo race or face dire consequences. They have an ultimatum to apologize for that barbaric action or have the entire Igbo youths contend with.
“Having said this, I appeal to the Igbo youths, including Biafra agitators who are so provoked by Mrs. Obiano’s action, to calm down while we wait for the family to do the needful.”
Okwu, however, hailed Mrs. Ojukwu for disciplining Obiano’s wife, stressing that, “we are happy that Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu was able to instill discipline on Mrs. Obiano since she did not get common training from her parents and the husband.”
“As the wife of a warlord, Mrs. Ojukwu couldn’t have done anything less; we are so proud of her and we know that the training she gave to Mrs. Obiano will linger in her memory for several years,” Okwu further stated.

He used the opportunity to congratulate Prof. Soludo on his swearing-in, urging him to set the ball rolling and restore the pride of Anambra State.
“We are so confident that a new Anambra beckons; we are optimistic that the glory days of Anambra State are back,” the youth leader said.
How The Clash Happened
In the viral video, Ebelechukwu stood up from her seat and moved to where Bianca, widow of Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, was seated and spoke to her.
Although Ebelechukwu was inaudible, the video showed how Bianca rose and gave her a slap, leading to a commotion.
The clash, according to reports, broke out when Mrs. Obiano allegedly continued to pull Mrs. Ojukwu by the shoulder and asked her why she made an about-turn by attending an APGA event after she swore never to do so.
After pulling Mrs. Ojukwu by the shoulder several times, Ojukwu allegedly gave her a slap and pulled her wig.
What could have resulted into a big fight was separated by security personnel standing nearby.
However, it was difficult to know why Mrs. Obiano was not sitting with her husband just as the wives of Soludo and his deputy.
The incident drew the attention of security agents and some personalities who pulled Obiano’s wife away from Bianca.

She was later taken away from the scene of the event and shortly afterwards, her husband left the venue.
The two women have reportedly been at loggerheads for years.
Obiano Arrested By EFCC Hours After Clash
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Obiano hours after he handed over power at the event where his wife got into a fight.
Obiano’s arrest was on Thursday night confirmed by Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the anti-graft agency.
He was reportedly arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The development comes months after the former governor was placed on the EFCC watch list.
According to a letter dated November 15, 2021 and addressed to the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the anti-graft agency had asked to be informed whenever Obiano is seen attempting to travel out of the country.
While details of why Obiano is currently in EFCC’s custody remain sketchy, at the time of his being placed on the watch list, he was said to have been under investigation over allegations of fraud.
In September 2021, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra had asked the anti-graft agency to probe the finances of the state in order to unearth “monumental deception”.
Basil Ejidike, Anambra APC chairman, had alleged that Obiano was “fraudulently” using the state’s security vote.
But reacting to the development, Don Adinuba, the state commissioner for information at the time, said the issue between the governor and the EFCC is masterminded by persons in high places who “unsuccessfully canvassed for emergency rule” in the state during the build-up to the November 2021 governorship election.
Obiano’s Successor, Soludo, Apologises For Breach Of Protocol At His Inauguration
Professor Soludo who took over from Obiano as Anambra Governor has issued a public apology over the fracas that broke out between Mrs. Obiano, and Mrs. Ojukwu during his inauguration on Thursday.
Although Soludo said it was a breach of improper communication between the two parties involved, it was a fight separated by security officers.
Soludo said in the statement signed by his media coordinator, Mr. Joe Anatune, that “steps are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship.”
Meanwhile, Soludo took oath of office on Thursday at Government House, Awka, promising to implement ‘Soludo Solution’ which, he said, will run on five pillars.
Speaking to a small crowd of people that clearly exceeded 50, Soludo said his solution is a contract with Anambra State that would leverage the 50-year development plan which he wrote under his predecessor, and the Transition Committee Work.
Soludo said the agenda was based on his five pillars driven by the philosophy of “one Anambra, one people, agenda”.
He said the five pillars are law and order, economic transformation as Nigeria’s axis of technology and leisure, competitive and progressive social agenda, the government of rule of law and order, and a rebirth of our value system.
He asked for patience and understanding of the people.
Soludo asked those who fight for freedom to seek alternative means of resolving issues.
In his opening prayers, the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, prayed for discerning mind, courage, and compassion.
