“They’ll Be Killed Like Chickens”: Tinubu Adviser Rejects US Military Intervention.

Daniel Bwala, a Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has issued a strong response to recent international tensions, stating that foreign special forces would not succeed if deployed to Nigeria. His comments come amid a reported increase in violent incidents following remarks from former US President Donald Trump.

In a televised interview, Bwala addressed the complex security situation. He suggested that a recent surge in banditry and kidnappings might be a tactic to create a pretext for international military action, a move he firmly opposed.

“The moment America talked about bringing in military forces, we suddenly saw back-to-back terrorist activities,” Bwala said. “This isn’t about provocation; it’s about trying to justify the idea of a military invasion.”

He was adamant that Nigeria’s discussions with international partners, including the United States, are centered on cooperation and support, not on permitting foreign troops to operate within the country. Bwala painted a vivid picture of the challenges any external force would face.

“Our talks with them are not about an invasion. It’s about sitting down and figuring out how they can assist us with what we actually require,” he explained. “If you bring Navy SEALs or Army Rangers here, with the tools and conditions we have, they would be killed like chickens. Let’s be honest about it.”

Bwala pointed to two major hurdles: unfamiliarity with the local environment and the nature of the conflict. He noted that foreign troops would not know the landscape and would struggle in a fight where combatants blend seamlessly into civilian populations.

“Would they know our terrain? In this type of guerrilla war, how do you separate fighters from innocent people?” he asked.

Instead of foreign soldiers on the ground, the presidential adviser outlined a clear need for advanced technological and intelligence support. He listed drone systems, satellite imagery, and help with building local intelligence networks as the kind of assistance that would make a real difference. The goal, he said, is to rebuild community trust to gather reliable information.

While not ruling out joint exercises or training, Bwala was clear that Nigeria must lead any security efforts inside its own borders. He concluded by stating that certain international actors might benefit from continued instability in the region, which drives narratives favoring foreign military presence.
