Imo Police Crack Down on Kidnapping, Arrest 5 Suspects in Forest Raid.
In a decisive move against kidnapping activities, the Imo State Police Command has successfully raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout and arrested five individuals. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma and his Special Tactical Unit, took place on January 29th in a forest between the communities of Avu and Ihiagwa.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police stormed the hidden location and apprehended the following suspects:
- Muazu Awuta (30 years old)
- Abdullahi Abubakar (32 years old)
- Ozeru Sabo (25 years old)
- Saddam Suleiman (27 years old)
- Bashir Yahaya (28 years old)
All five individuals hail from Jau Local Government Area in Jigawa State. According to police reports, they are currently undergoing interrogation and have provided valuable information that could lead to the apprehension of other criminal syndicates operating in the region.
The raid also yielded the discovery of two decomposing bodies, believed to be victims of kidnapping. While their identities remain unknown, the Imo State Police Command intends to conduct DNA tests for confirmation. Additionally, five operational motorcycles belonging to the apprehended suspects were seized during the operation.
Commissioner Danjuma emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state: “Intense operation is still ongoing in the forest and other identified black spots to stamp out all forms of crime and criminality in the State.” This statement reflects the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Imo residents.
