Jonathan, Osinbajo, Sultan Named African Peace Icons
An international peace-focused organization, Peace Ambassador Agency Worldwide, has designated several prominent figures as peace icons in Africa, including Former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
The list also encompasses other influential individuals such as Kenyan President William Ruto, Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the United Bank of Africa Group, Femi Otedola, Chairman of Geregu Power PLC, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated, and Mohammadu Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto.
During a press conference in Abuja, Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, the Project Director of the organization, unveiled a roster of “100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa.” He highlighted the dedication of these individuals to fostering peace and harmony across the continent, contributing to conflict reduction and community connections.

Amafibe noted that among these peace icons, there is a diverse range of professionals including economists, financial experts, sports personalities, religious leaders, industrialists, entertainment entrepreneurs, traditional rulers, activists, thinkers, and creators. Their impact transcends boundaries and challenges, leaving behind lasting legacies.
“This collective endeavor aims to amplify the impact of their contributions and cultivate a stronger sense of tranquility and prosperity in Africa,” Amafibe remarked. He further emphasized the values of unity, harmony, and progress that are encapsulated in each of their stories.
In addition to this recognition, the organization outlined plans to grant scholarships to 20,000 underprivileged students across the continent. Amafibe emphasized that the cooperation and backing of these peace icons will facilitate the organization’s goals.
He stated, “This scholarship initiative is designed to empower and nurture the next generation of African leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to drive the advancement and stability of their respective nations.”
Recognizing the pivotal role of youth in transformation, the organization is committed to providing comprehensive training and skill development. The initiative spans various domains, ranging from entrepreneurship to technology, enabling young people to lead innovation and positive change.
Furthermore, the organization acknowledges the importance of access to clean water in rural communities. To address this critical need, they are launching the “CleanAqua4All” Pipe Borne Water Project, which aims to provide clean and safe drinking water to underserved rural areas. This initiative seeks to enhance quality of life, promote health and well-being, and stimulate progress within these communities.
