Nigerian actor Kenneth Okonkwo has recently expressed strong opinions regarding Pope Francis’s stance on same-sex marriage within the Catholic Church. In a bold statement, Okonkwo urged Catholic Bishops not only to resist but also to demand the Pope’s resignation, citing concerns over the potential destabilization of the church.
Okonkwo argued that some Catholic Bishops challenging the Pope’s unscriptural endorsement of same-sex marriage was not sufficient. He emphasized the need for a more assertive approach, drawing parallels to the historical schism in the Anglican Church.
According to Okonkwo, allowing the endorsement of same-sex marriage within the Catholic Church could lead to an inevitable implosion, akin to the challenges faced by the Anglican Church. He asserted that such a move contradicted God’s clear teachings, referencing Ephesians 5:3, which emphasizes avoiding any mention of such acts in the church.
The actor went on to criticize the Pope for not only acknowledging same-sex marriage but also encouraging priests to bless such unions. In Okonkwo’s view, this departure from traditional doctrine warranted the Pope’s resignation as the only viable solution to safeguard the integrity of the Catholic Church.
