PRESIDENCY: One Condition Wike Gave Jonathan Before He Can Support Him To Contest 2023 Election.

Recently there have been reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan may join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Though the former President has denied the allegeation via his media aide, but the APC has said Jonathan is free to join but there won’t be an automatic ticket for him.

After Femi Fani Kayode joined APC some Nigerians began to speculate that GEJ might soon join because of his relationship with FFK.

However, a top PDP Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to all the reports that GEJ may contest the 2023 presidential election.

According to Sahara Reporters, Wike gave the former President one condition for him to support Jonathan’s 2023 presidential ambition.

If Jonathan wants to contest the 2023 presidential election, he must do that under PDP and not APC for me to support him.

Those who know Nyesom Wike will agree with me that he is a loyal party man and doesn’t tolerate any form of anti-party activities.

Recall that Nyesom Wike was angry over what Dave Umahi publicly said about Obaseki winning the 2016 Edo guber election as an APC candidate while Ize- Iyamu was the PDP candidate.

He was one of those that forced the Secondus led NWC to set up a disciplinary committee against Umahi for anti-party activities. Umahi confirmed it when he spoke on Channels TV.

It is not surprising that he made it clear that he will only support Jonathan if he contests the 2023 presidential election under PDP.

Does Jonathan stand a chance in PDP given the condition the major financial supporter of the PDP gave him?

From the development in PDP, the party plans to produce a Northern President candidate with a Southern running mate.

At the last PDP Governors meeting, they endorsed Olagunsoye Oyinlola to emerge as the next PDP national chairman.

Oyinlola is a Southerner and if he emerges which is likely, it simply means a Northerner will become the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP.

Can Jonathan settle for a running mate after serving as a President of Nigeria? It is not possible.

That’s why his chances look brighter in APC but he should not count on Wike for support should he decide to join the APC.
