WAHALA! Kayanmata Seller Jaruma Set To Be IMPRISONED After Her Bail Was Revoked.

Popular Aphrodisiac merchant, Hauwa Saidu aka Jaruma is set to spend the next few weeks in prison after her bail was revoked by the Upper Area Court, Zuba in Abuja.

Recall that Jaruma was arrested and remanded in prison on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, following a petition to the Nigerian police against her by billionaire businessman/politician, Ned Nwoko. 

Nwoko accused her of making defamatory statements against him and young Nollywood actress wife, Regina Daniels.

Following Nwoko’s petition, Jaruma was arraigned before the upper area court by police on charges bordering on defamation of character, false news publication, and intimidation.

She was released on January 28, 2022, after perfecting the conditions of her bail. She had spent four days in prison. 

The presiding judge, Ismailia Abdullahi, had also adjourned the case till February 23, 2022, for the commencement of the defamation trial against the s*x therapist. 

However, Barrister Abdullahi has now revoked the s*x therapist’s bail after neither she nor any of her legal representatives showed up in court today for the commencement of the trial. 

According to Punch, the judge having waited for two hours angrily revoked Jaruma’s bail and ordered her re-arrest and subsequent remand at the Suleja Correctional Centre till the trial resumes.

The new adjourned date slated for the trial is March 17, 2022. 

Recall that in the petition addressed to the court, Ned Nwoko stated that Jaruma claimed to have given Regina the sum of N10 million as payment for her to serve as an influencer for the former’s aphrodisiac products.

The petition would go on to state that Jaruma would later accuse the actress of not carrying out her part of the deal by pulling out and disassociating herself with the kayanmata brand. 

Jaruma is further accused of defaming Nwoko and his wife by insinuating that they had benefited from her Kayanmata products, a claim Nwoko vehemently denies. 

Recall that Jaruma had alleged that the billionaire was under the influence of Kayanmata in a statement made in December 2021. This was after Nwoko had released a statement against Jaruma and his ex-wife Laila Charani detailing why they broke up.  

“How come the marriage that produced a child ended barely after one year? How come Kayanmata didn’t work.” she said 

“Really, if kayamata is not working on you, how can a 21-year-old girl control you and your whole PR team to type that five-page statement on your page? It’s working on you. You cannot say it’s not working.

Meanwhile, former presidential aspirant and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore had in January called for Jaruma’s release from prison following her initial stint in custody.

Sowore had decried Nwoko’s use of the Nigerian police to damage “lots of innocent citizens”. 

The Sahara Reporter’s publisher called for Jaruma to be freed forthwith, arguing that the defamation charge brought against her is a civil matter, and should be treated as such.

”#FreeJaruma: It is disheartening that Nigeria Police Force continues to deploy itself to despicable VIP mercenary activities. This so-called Billionairë, Ned Nwoko has done so much damage to lots of innocent citizens in his community with the aid of the Nigerian police.” he wrote 

“Jaruma is his latest victim. This culture cannot stand! Defamation is a civil matter! Let @jaruma_empire go! #RevolutionNow #WeCantContinueLikeThis”

Jaruma was first arrested in the third week of January 2022, upon her arrival in Abuja. Following her release, she had further lambasted Nwoko in a video shared via Instagram.

According to Cuppy, on some days, she feels utter regret at her decision to pursue a third-degree, because of its knock-on effect on her music career. The DJ who released her debut album in 2020, has had to put her music career on hold for school. 

However, on other days she expressed the elation she feels at the thought of empowering herself with even more education, in a bid to become greater at every aspect of her life.
