Amb (Dr) Chris Odey Appointed Ambassador and Representative to the Emirate Council of the People With Disability In The FCT.
The Emir of Physical Challenged Persons Living With Disabilities in the FCT, His Royal Highness Alh Muhammed Suleiman Katsina, has appointed Amb (Dr) Chris Odey as the Official Mouthpiece of the Council.
The Emir stated that the appointment was made in recognition of Amb (Dr) Chris Odey’s long-standing, selfless contribution and support for people with disabilities over a period of ten years.
He noted that Amb (Dr) Chris Odey had mobilized countless support ranging from finance, food, clothing for their children, school materials, and medical outreaches, and was still doing more.
The Emir explained that the appointment would grant Amb (Dr) Chris Odey the power to go everywhere in the world to represent and speak on behalf of the people with disabilities.
He lamented that people with disabilities were often classified as beggars and less human when they went out to any government function designated to give support to the vulnerable. However, he expressed gratitude to people like Chris Odey who had not forsaken them.
The Emir urged all persons, corporate bodies, and government functionaries to recognize Amb (Dr) Chris Odey and lend him the needed support to continue his good works.
In his acceptance speech, Chris Odey expressed his deep appreciation for the appointment, stating that it meant so much to him. He acknowledged that he had received countless recognitions and awards from very prestigious organizations and institutions, including his award of Honorary Doctor of Humanities from the University of ESPAM FORMATION UNIVERSITY, BENIN REPUBLIC. However, he emphasized that this particular appointment stood out because it aligned with the core of his purpose for living.
Amb (Dr) Chris Odey declared that doing good and lending support were his calling, and that the day he stopped Welfare and Humanitarian activism would be the day he died.
He urged all those whom God had blessed with the world’s goods to emulate other distinguished Nigerians and look out for the less privileged and vulnerable in their communities to assist, especially as the economy was biting hard on everyone, let alone those with deformities.
Amb (Dr) Chris Odey thanked all those who came out to support him and celebrate this feat and urged them to stand with him as the award meant a call to more work.
