Amotekun: If You Abuse Your Uniform, Before Ogun Strikes You, We Would Have Dealt With You – Soyinka.

Popular Nigerian writer, Wole Soyinka has come out to send a strong warning to the operatives of Western network security popularly known as Amotekun. asking them not to involve in molesting innocent citizens.

The award- winning writer didn’ t take it politely with the newly recruited Amotekun corps when he said that Ogun which is the god of iron will strike any Amotekun operative who takes advantage of his uniform to molest those they are supposed to protect.

Soyinka said, ” Amotekun, we are watching you. If you abuse your uniform, before Ogun strikes you, we would have dealt with you. “

According to reports, the Amotekun operative was established by the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun who also beautified the award- winning writer as the super Marshall of the security outfit in the state.

While addressing the gathering, Wole Soyinka expressed great displeasure that the police in Ogun state had not been able to give vivid reports about those that rade his home, whereby moving with sensible items. adding that he had since resorted to what he termed ‘ do it yourself.

He also urged the police and another security outlet in the state not to involve in any form of competition with the Amotekun operatives. He also advises other security operatives to welcome the Amotekun operatives.

Governor Abiodun in his words warned the Amotekun not to use their uniform to harassed the people of the state. He warned them to operate within the Ambit of the law that created it and it should never engage engaged in unpleasant war with other security outfits.

Governor Abiodun added that the establishment of Amotekun is not to create unnecessary competition with the police, soldiers, civil defense, etc, but rather for primary aim is to protect the innocent lives.
