A RUGBY match in New Zealand was delayed after a pitch invader wearing just socks started doing headstands on the field… before Superman came to the rescue.
The bizarre incident happened in a game between neighbours Otago and Southland classed as the oldest rivalry in the country.
The two sides have played each other 242 times since their first game in 1887.
But this surely would have been the first time the unexpected fans were left with more than they bargained for.
During the contest, the man broke free of security and made his way onto the field as fans cheered him on.
He then stopped, got onto his hands and head and showed the stadium his party trick while unfortunately opening his legs.
The image was more than enough to put people off from eating their halftime snacks.
But the entertainment didn’t end there as he was followed by another pitch invader who tackled him to the ground while wearing a Superman outfit.
The players could only watch on in confusion as security then had the task of escorting them out of the stadium.
It at least gave the Otago supporters something to smile after they watched their side lose their 16th consecutive game against their rivals in a 43-24 defeat.
