Just in: MTV Base Bans Marlian Record and Songs Over Mohbad’s Death.
Reports reaching us confirms that MTV Base, a popular music channel, won’t play songs from Marlian Records anymore.
This means songs from Marlian Records and their artists won’t be on MTV Base, which is bad news for the record label, its artists, partners, and associates.
This ban happened because of the sad and controversial death of Mohbad, one of the artists formerly signed to Marlian Records. Naira Marley, who owns Marlian Records, is being accused by many of having something to do with Mohbad’s death.
After Mohbad’s death, some radio stations in Nigeria decided not to play any songs from Marlian Records. They called it a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban.
The news about MTV Base banning Marlian Records was shared by a famous TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale, also known as DadaBoy Ehiz. He posted on his Twitter on September 20th, saying, “Mtvbase dropped everything Marlian … kudos to dem.” This means MTV Base decided not to show Marlian Records stuff anymore.
MTV Base’s decision comes after many videos showed Mohbad being bullied and harassed. This made people point fingers at Naira Marley, the boss of Marlian Records, and his friend Sam Larry.
At the same time, there’s a big protest happening across Nigeria and even worldwide because of Mohbad’s death. People are sad and want justice.
