Lagos Woman Killed in Her Home as Neighbour Who Witnessed Attack Is Left Unconscious.
A quiet neighbourhood in Iyana-Isashi, Lagos, has been thrown into shock after an elderly woman was attacked and killed inside her home. A man who lives in the next compound and witnessed the incident was also brutally assaulted and left in an unconscious state.
The woman’s daughter, a hairstylist who works in Lekki, recounted the painful sequence of events that unfolded on the day her mother died. She said she was at work when she received a call from a neighbour who is a nurse. The neighbour told her that her mother had been injured in an attack.

She said she immediately left her workplace and began the long journey home to Iyana-Isashi. She also called her sister to head to the family house as well.
“My sister got home before I did,” she explained. “That was when she called to tell me that our mother had passed on.”
Upon hearing the news, the hairstylist decided to go straight to the police station near their house instead of heading home first. When she arrived, she met a crowd of people from her community who had come to report the attack on her mother. It was there that she was shown her mother’s body.
When she finally got home, she saw signs that her mother had been coming out of the bathroom when the attacker struck. According to her, her mother was hit with a stick, and her head was hacked open with a cutlass. Blood had stained the sand outside the compound. The cutlass used in the attack was still at the scene.

A male neighbour who lives in the compound next door was also attacked. The hairstylist said the man had witnessed what happened to her mother, and the attacker went after him to silence him. When he was found, he was unconscious but still breathing. Footprints and signs of forced entry from the barrier separating the two properties suggested that the attacker moved from one compound to the other in pursuit of the man.

As of the time of this report, no suspect has been formally identified. However, the daughter told reporters that she suspects her paternal uncle may be behind the attack. She claimed he had been threatening to kill her mother if she did not vacate the house. She also mentioned that her uncle’s son, who is an ex-convict recently released from prison, may have been involved.
She is now calling on the authorities to carry out a thorough investigation into her mother’s death.
“I want justice for my mother,” she said. “Those responsible must be found.”
The incident has left residents of the Iyana-Isashi community on edge, with many calling for increased security and a swift response from the police.
