Former Aye Cult Leader Killed in Lagos Days to His Wedding, Revenge Attacks Follow.
OJO, LAGOS – A wave of cult-related violence has rocked the Ojo area of Lagos, leaving at least two popular cultist dead and tensions high among rival groups, according to reports circulating on social media.
The violence began around 4pm recently when a man identified as Prosper, also known as Azuka, was killed at Alaba International in Ojo, close to St. Patrick Church. Prosper was described as a former number one man for the Aye confraternity, also known as NBM.

Eyewitness accounts shared on the Facebook page Naija Confra say Prosper was in a hurry that afternoon. He was reportedly urging his motorcycle rider to speed up and leave the area before his attackers could catch up with him.
The attackers opened fire. Prosper managed to dodge the first shots, but one bullet missed him and struck an innocent truck driver instead, killing the man instantly. The attackers did not stop there. They went after Prosper and killed him.
Those who knew him described Prosper as a phone dealer in the area and a well-known figure. Friends and associates have been left in shock, not just because of how he died, but because of what was coming up in his personal life. Sources say his birthday was scheduled for next Monday, and his traditional marriage had been planned for next month.

After the killing, confusion arose over which group carried out the attack. While some sources initially pointed to a clash between Aye and their longtime rivals Eiye, a different group stepped forward to claim responsibility.
The Vikings confraternity reportedly claimed they carried out the attack on Prosper. In response, the Aye group has now blamed both Eiye, also known as ACN, and Vikings, also known as DNKI. Aye has vowed to retaliate against both groups for the killing of their former leader.

Revenge Attack the Same Night
The situation escalated quickly. Later that same night, the Aye group launched a revenge attack in the Satellite Town area of Ojo.
Their target was a man known as Hefty, described as a former number one for the Eiye confraternity and one of the most feared cultists in the Satellite Town area. Hefty was tracked to Esie Street in Ijegun Egba, within the Ojo axis.
Witnesses say the attackers shot at Hefty first, but the bullet did not penetrate. They then turned to other weapons, using stones, axes, and other objects to kill him. Hefty was known in the area as a very dangerous cultist, someone whom even other dangerous cultists avoided crossing. He had a long history of criminal activity and had been a major target for the Aye group for a long time. Naija Confra claims they had earlier warned Hefty on February 4, 2025, though the nature of that warning was not detailed.

More Attacks That Night
The violence did not stop with Hefty. The Aye group also attacked two more people that same night in the Ojo area. According to reports, Aye is claiming that these two victims are members of the Vikings confraternity. However, Naija Confra has stated that they have not yet identified the two individuals and will not label them as cultists until their identities can be confirmed.

Situation Remains Tense
The back-and-forth killings have left the Ojo area on edge. With Aye vowing revenge against both Eiye and Vikings, and the other groups likely preparing their own responses, residents fear more violence could be coming.
Local sources describe the situation as very serious, with all sides expected to continue their attacks. The cycle of revenge shows no signs of stopping.
For ordinary people living and working in these areas, the violence brings fear and uncertainty. An innocent truck driver has already lost his life simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Community members are hoping the violence does not escalate further and claim more innocent victims.
The police have not yet issued an official statement regarding these incidents. Calls for residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities have been repeated in local conversations.
As one social media user commented on the Naija Confra page, “Stay safe. Reject Cultism.”
