NFSS Invites Stakeholders to the Inauguration of Its Counter-Terrorism Department.
Abuja – The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) is taking a major step in its operations with the official opening of its new Department of Counter-Terrorism later this month.
The organization, which started as the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), has invited civil service groups, government agencies, and other stakeholders to the ceremony. The NFSS is known for its role in protecting the country’s forest reserves. By coordinating local hunters and vigilantes who know the terrains well, the service has been active in the fight against crimes like banditry, kidnapping, and illegal logging.

The public opening is scheduled to hold on the 28th of March, 2026, at the NFSS Zonal Command in Kubwa, Abuja. The address is Block 126, Flat 1, Gado Nasko Road, by 2/2 Court Junction.
In a chat with the press, the commander in charge of the new unit, Mayor Innocent Solomon CISSP, explained the goal behind the move. He said the department is ready to get to work on the issues outlined in their original plans.

“Join us as we launch our proactive approach to security, aimed at combating crime and ensuring national safety,” Commander Solomon said.
The event is expected to bring together a range of security and community leaders. The Commander General of the NFSS, Adewole Joshua Osatimrhin (PhD), will be the keynote speaker. The guest speaker is Air Vice Marshal AI Adamu (mni, psc, GSS, FCA, FCIT), who chairs the Military Pension Board.

Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council
Other dignitaries expected to attend include the Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon. Dr. John S. Gabaya, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. The Guest of Honour is ACP Fatima Gimbal, the Area Commander at the Phase 4 Police Station in Kubwa. The Royal Father of the day is HRH Chief Adamu Sariki, Chief of Gbagyi. Commander Solomon will act as the Chief Host for the inauguration.
