As part of her double release of new singles Chun Li and Barbie Tingz, Nicki Minaj also gave a no-hold-barred interview on Beats 1.
In the talk, Zane Lowe didn’t pull any punches, asking about all the sore spots —Cardi B, Meek Mill, Drake.
But Nicki was ready to talk. Here’s the best (below)!
On Cardi B
Nicki and Cardi B have been rumored to have a quiet feud going for months now. How real is it?? Nicki says:
“The only thing that really really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after Motorsport… I was like, what?”
“All of them made me look like I lied. She started using my hairdresser. I fully supported her and she never showed genuine love. They all went about and played the victim.”
“Up until this recent interview she did, I had never seen her show me genuine love.”
Sooooo… maybe things will be better from here on out?
On Meek Mill
Last November, Meek Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison for violating his parole from 10 years earlier. This was months after he and Nicki had broken up, but it’s still obviously very important to her. She said:
“The judge in question did everything I told her. I can’t bad mouth her. I get into more detail on the documentary I’m shooting, and the album.”
She’s shooting a documentary about Meek?? Wow.
On Drake
Drake famously traded diss tracks with Meek Mill, to whom she was engaged at the time. Nicki says after the beef was over, Drake told her, “I wasn’t worried about anything in that situation except, What if Nicki takes a shot? What if Nicki spits bars at me?”
Ha! She also said:
“Drake is always mad at me. We’re like an old married couple.”“Drake has given me some of the best advice of my career. He’s very smart, you can’t take that away from him.”
On Her Social Media Hiatus
Why did she take a break from social media? Simple:
“Because I needed to focus. This is the best album in my life that I’ve ever created.”
That’s a bold statement coming from Nicki! She also says she’s announcing a tour soon and “can’t wait to go around the world.”
