Nigerian Army Troops Dismantle Bandit Camp in Taraba State Operation.

Taraba State – In a targeted security operation, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully destroyed a camp used by bandits in the Takum Local Government Area.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday, was launched after the military received information from local communities about bandit activity around villages including Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo.

Acting on these tips, the soldiers carried out a clearance patrol across a string of villages and adjoining settlements. According to a statement from the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops were then given another urgent tip while at Kofar Ahmadu village.

This new information reported that bandits had been seen around the TY Farm area. The soldiers immediately moved towards the location.

Upon arrival, the troops made contact with the armed criminals. An exchange followed, but the bandits, facing determined resistance from the soldiers, could not hold their ground and fled into the nearby forest.

The army personnel then pressed their advantage, pursuing the bandits to their base. They located and completely destroyed the group’s main camp at TY Farm, a move that removes a known safe haven for the criminals. During the exploitation of the area, one dane gun was recovered.

This mission is part of the ongoing ‘Operation Lafiya Nakowa,’ a wider effort by the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) to root out bandits and terrorist elements hiding in parts of Taraba State.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the soldiers for their quick action and courage during the operation. He restated the Brigade’s dedication to ensuring peace and security across the state and encouraged residents to continue their support by providing timely information to security forces.
