A young house help in the Federal Capital Territory is currently in police custody after she allegedly stole jewellery worth millions from her employer. The theft only came to light after the madam threatened to involve a native doctor.
The incident, which has stirred conversation on social media, occurred while the woman of the house was away on a business trip in Turkey. When she returned, she discovered that her valuable jewellery, estimated to be worth over N4.6 million, was missing from her closet.

According to sources, when the madam first confronted the house girl, she denied everything. She insisted she had never gone into the room without permission and had no idea where the jewellery could be. At first, the woman believed her.

But the unease did not go away. Determined to get to the bottom of the matter, the madam told the maid that if the truth did not come out soon, she would have no choice but to travel to her village and consult a powerful native doctor to expose the thief.

This threat changed everything.
The house girl, who had remained calm during the initial questioning, became visibly nervous. It was then that she broke down and confessed. She admitted that she had stolen the jewellery and sold them. So, why did she do it? According to her, she wanted to buy new phones.
With the money from the stolen jewellery, she purchased an iPhone 17 Pro Max for herself. She did not forget her boyfriend either. She bought him a new Tecno phone. The boyfriend is said to live in the same neighborhood, and his mother is known locally for selling Akara (bean cakes) by the roadside.

When the police arrived at the house later that day to arrest her, the house girl stood quietly. Those who saw her noted that she looked calm and innocent, the kind of person you would not suspect of stealing.
The case has left many people talking about the risks of hiring help, while others are focused on the irony of throwing away a future over a phone. As of now, the police are continuing their investigation, and the boyfriend has also been invited for questioning.
