Subsidy Removal: Nigerians Will Now Power Their Vehicle Using Cheap Autogas Instead of Petrol – FG.

In a bid to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians, especially those reliant on petrol for their daily transportation needs, the federal government has implemented some measures.

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), headed by Dr. Bayero Salih-Farah, the Director-General, has established workshops across the nation to facilitate the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to autogas.

Addressing the press in Zaria, Kaduna State, Dr. Salih-Farah revealed that the institute has been diligently working on this initiative for several years and is set to commence the conversion process within the next two weeks, making it accessible to citizens nationwide.

One of the key advantages of this initiative is the affordability factor, as the institute has collaborated with companies specializing in conversion kits, ensuring that the cost remains reasonable for Nigerians.

During the sensitization of stakeholders across the country, Dr. Salih-Farah emphasized the urgency for Nigerians to move from petrol (PMS) to autogas. He pointed out that autogas presents a more economical and eco-friendly alternative to petrol, thereby offering more savings to vehicle owners once the conversion is completed.

Indeed, autogas is currently considerably cheaper than petrol, with a difference of at least 40 percent in the market. Consequently, transportation costs are projected to decrease once the widespread adoption of autogas begins. Vehicle owners will experience substantial financial relief using autogas.

Apart from the economic benefits, the use of autogas will contribute to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly Nigeria. The reduction in harmful emissions will play a crucial role in mitigating pollution and its adverse effects on the nation’s health and natural resources.

Moreover, in a move to foster knowledge-sharing and advancements, the NITT plans to collaborate with the National Information Technology Agency on more projects. This partnership aims to bolster innovation and expertise in the transportation sector, ultimately benefiting all Nigerians.
