Alhaji Yusuf Lawal, the District Head of Kankara, also known as Sarkin Pawwan Katsina, has been fired by the Katsina Emirate Council.
Lawal was first detained by the Emirate in April of this year (last month).
The District Head was suspended after he was found guilty of all charges filed against him by citizens in his domain, the most of which had to do with supporting and assisting banditry as well as hindering ongoing efforts to combat bandits in the area.
The Emirate’ s spokesman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bindawa, informed Channels Television that the District Head had been suspended earlier this month for allegedly funding bandit activities in Kankara, one of the state’ s frontline Local Government Areas beset by violence.
He added that the Emirate set up a commission chaired by Kauran Katsina, Rimi District Head, which met with security officers and other stakeholders, particularly from Kankara district, and found the District Head guilty of assisting bandits and kidnappers terrorizing Kankara LGA.
