What should have been a week of final preparations and celebration has become a time of shock and mourning. A young man’s plan to marry the woman he loved ended in tragedy after he was attacked and killed in his own home, just days before the ceremony.

Godwin Nwojiji was stabbed to death at his residence in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state. The news has sent waves of grief through his community, leaving family, friends, and his bride-to-be struggling to understand a senseless act of violence.

A wedding is typically one of the happiest days in a person’s life, filled with hope and the promise of a future together. For Nwojiji, that promise was violently taken away. Details surrounding the attack remain unclear, and the person or people responsible have not been found.

“Everyone was so happy for him. We were all getting ready,” said a close family friend, who asked not to be named. “Now, we are just sitting here, crying and asking ‘why?’ What could he have done to deserve this? We need to know who did this.”

Nwojiji’s loved ones are now united in a call for justice. They are urging the police to find and arrest those responsible for cutting his life short.

“Our hearts are broken,” a family member stated. “We are asking the authorities to please do their work. Find the people who did this. We want justice for Godwin. He was a good son, a good brother, and he was about to start his own family. That chance was stolen from him.”

The community is left to grapple with the loss, as a time meant for joy has been replaced by an overwhelming sadness and a desperate search for answers.
