Iconic Nigerian entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken on a new role: matchmaker for his son. The self-styled “Area Fada” has made a public appeal on social media, confessing that he is on a mission to find a wife for his 46-year-old son, who is based abroad.

Charly Boy, never one to shy away from the unconventional, explained that he feels it is his paternal duty to step in since his son has been hesitant to choose a wife for himself. The son, whose pictures were shared by the proud father, is described as a highly eligible bachelor: a Master’s degree holder, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and “very humble.” He also revealed that his son was previously married and has a 20-year-old son from that union.

“My people,
I still dey look for wife for dis my son. E don marry once, divorce. Now, e be like say e dey fear woman.
Biko, if you’re from a good home with humble beginnings, DM me. He is coming next month.”

The post, which is quickly gaining traction, comes with specific criteria for potential suitors. Charly Boy stressed that the ideal lady must be an “authentic graduate” from a humble home and be ready to settle down “in the shortest time.” He added a patriotic note to his quest, stating his desire to “tie him to Nigeria,” suggesting a wish for his son to re-establish stronger roots in the country.
The public appeal has undoubtedly set social media abuzz, with many Nigerians sharing the post and tagging single ladies in their networks. While some see it as a lighthearted stunt characteristic of Charly Boy’s persona, others are viewing it as a genuine call from a concerned father.
