Peter Okoye’s Beef with Seun Kuti – How It All Started.

Nigerian musician, Peter Okoye, of the famed P-Square music group has clashed with fellow musician, Seun Kuti, following comments the latter made about Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate.

Seun Kuti recently lambasted Mr Obi, describing him as “an opportunist who cannot rescue Nigeria.”

The musician made his thoughts known during an interview with ‘TheMicOnPodcast’, where he argued that no politician can save Nigeria except for Nigerians themselves.

According to Seun, Peter Obi has no concrete plans to save the country despite the massive support base he has garnered on social media.

Seun also accused Mr Obi of being “an opportunist who started a movement” after losing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.

To buttress his point, Seun also described Obi and Labour Party as a mismatch noting that the ex-Anambra governor favours a capitalist economy, which is opposed to the style of the Labour Party, which favours a socialist structure.

“He hasn’t had the time because he started too late. You can’t be telling me that just because you lost PDP primaries 18 months before the election, you suddenly started a movement, and you have a plan for the country,” he said.

“No, that’s opportunism. And it’s not an opportunist that will deliver Nigeria—not jumping on Labour Party. The Labour Party has a socialist structure. Peter Obi is a capitalist. Where are they going?”

Incensed by Seun’s ststements, Peter Okoye an avid supporter of Obi carpeted him in serious of post via social media.

“Dude just erased his father’s history! You said only the people of Nigeria can save Nigeria! Is PO and the rest of the candidates not the Nigerian people? Shame! Shame! Shame!!! So disappointed,” he said.

Okoye also took to Twitter where he urged Kuti to “comport himself” and learn Frome his younger nephew, Made Kuti.

“I understand your frustration, but realize that the sky is big enough for all birds to fly. @burnaboy and other great artist have climbed on our great Fela’s ladder to be low. Comport yourself and pray to your God. My God has blessed my destiny & I’ll 4ever remain thankful. I’ll surely keep you in my prayers. Learn from your nephew @madekuti cos he is well guided and clean,” he said.

Peter and Paul Okoye endorsed Peter Obi’s candidacy after he decamped from PDP to the Labour Party last year.
