Sad Story of 100 – Level OAU Student Who Died After Falling into Soakaway.

Nigerians are attacking the management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile- Ife, Osun state, for the death of a 100- level student of the Department of Linguistics and African Studies.

On Wednesday, 9 February 2022, it was reported that the young girl fell into a septic tank in her hostel, where students are allegedly paying N200, 000 for a bed space.

The 100- level student simply identified as Heritage Ajibola was packing some of her clothes at the hostel when she mistakenly slipped into the septic tank.

The University’ s Students’ Union president, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan, confirmed the death of Heritage in a new statement. He said that the incident happened during afternoon hours at Bver Hostel.

However, it must be noted that the lady’ s death could be avoided if the septic tank was well constructed and covered.

Olalekan said that it is sadden that a life was lost due to poor maintenance on the school side despite the huge amount of money paid by the university students.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have been bashing the management of the school concerning the death of the young woman. They asked the authority to persecute everyone who contributed to the death of the young- promising woman.

An unnamed internet user reacted saying, ” Students will pay heavy school fees and the school authority will embezzle all, and will not put any amount to work to make life a little bit easy for our children. “

Another user penned, ” School VC has promised to take immediate action! ” Like everything else in Nigeria it’s reactionary! We are never PROACTIVE, never have foresight! Why in 2022 would u still have these things that are not correctly constructed in cordoned-off areas?

” It’ s the same throughout the country! Governors will not fix bad roads until someone they know loses their life on a particular stretch of road. We just no care about lives until after death. What a waste of a life! RIP little girl. I can only begin to imagine what her parents are feeling! “
