See the Faces of the Eight-Man Gang that Rapped and Killed UNILORIN Female Student.
Eight persons have been paraded and arraigned in court in connection with the r*pe and murder of Olajide Blessing Omowumi, a 300-level student of the University of Ilorin.
The suspects appeared in court on Wednesday, June 30.
Recall that the deceased was on Wednesday night, June 2, r*ped and brutally murdered by unidentified person(s) in Tanke, Ilorin.
She was living with her sister who is a medical doctor and who was on night shift when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Blessing was a student of the Agricultural Science Department from Oke-Opin community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said Omowumi was found n*ked with her two hands tied to the back and mouth gagged on Tuesday, June 1.
“Also, a note said to have been written on a piece of paper was placed on her chest containing a message, “Unilorin doesn’t forgive.”
The suspects; Abdulazeez Ismail, Ajala Moses Oluwatimileyin (aka Jacklord), Oyeyemi Timileyin Omogbolahan, Abdulkarim Shuaib (Easy), Kareem Oshioyemi Rasheed (Rashworld), Abdullateef Abdulrahman, Daud Bashir Adebayo (Bashman), and Akande Taiye Oladoja, were brought before Justice Ibrahim Adebayo Yusuf of an Ilorin High Court on Wednesday.
Their trial could, however, not commence because of the inability of three of the suspects to produce legal counsel. Justice Yusuf, however, adjourned the case till July 6, 2021, and ordered that they should be remanded in Mandala Correctional facility.
The Kwara State Government filed an 11-count charge against them.
According to the charge sheet, three of the defendants, Ismail, Moses, and Omogbolahan, conspired to rob the deceased of her “Samsung Galaxy A2 Core handset and carted away other items, including one black Acer Aspire 1 series laptop, one Samsung drive, one pink wireless mouse, one white handheld mini sewing machine, one Infinix charger, and one gold colour win touch tab while armed with offensive weapon including a black wooden pistol gun”.
The prosecution also accused five others of aiding and abetting the receipt of stolen items. They were also accused of stealing the sum of N116,000 from the GTB account of the deceased.
